Today's Anchor Musée d'Orsay

  • Tickets — offline
  • Phone + battery

  • Comfortable shoes
  • Hotel key & address

Today's Goal

Enjoy the Musée d'Orsay without trying to see everything, then let the afternoon become a relaxed westward walk through Paris icons.

The museum is the anchor. The Arc de Triomphe and Eiffel Tower are exterior views today, not more ticketed attractions. Stop before the day turns into a forced march.

Before Leaving the Hotel

  • Musée d'Orsay ticket downloaded and accessible offline.
  • Comfortable walking shoes.
  • Water.
  • Phone fully charged.
  • Light bag only.
  • From Hôtel Rochechouart, Line 12 from Pigalle runs straight down to the Left Bank and the museum.

Morning

Coffee

Coutume Café

Order
Coffee, pastry, and water.
Why Here
A calm Left Bank start before the museum.

Visit
2–3 hours is enough for a focused family visit.

Lunch

Lunch at Orsay

Inside or near the museum • choose ease

Eat before starting the long westward walk. If everyone is happy inside the museum, use the museum café or restaurant rather than leaving hungry.

Plan A
Eat at the museum if timing is easy.
Plan B
Pick a nearby café after leaving the museum.

Backup

La Grande Épicerie if you would rather make lunch a picnic-style reset.

Afternoon

Tuileries and Place de la Concorde

20 min walk • across the Seine

Cross the river and move slowly through the Tuileries toward Place de la Concorde. This is the best place to decide how much energy the afternoon has left.

Plan
Walk, sit, people-watch, and decide whether to continue west.
Skip If
Museum energy is gone. A quiet return is better than forcing the full walk.

Up Next →

Arc de Triomphe

45 min walk from Concorde • exterior view only

Walk the Champs-Élysées if it sounds fun; otherwise shorten this with Metro or skip it. At the Arc, use the pedestrian underpass. Do not cross the traffic circle.

Plan
Exterior view only.
Tickets
No rooftop visit planned.
Safety
Use the underpass to reach the monument area.

Evening

Eiffel Tower View

35 min walk from Arc • optional

Only continue to the Eiffel Tower if energy is good. A view from Champ de Mars or Trocadéro is enough today; no tower ticket is planned.

Plan
Exterior view only.
Tickets
No ascent planned.
Decision
If everyone is tired, skip this and go straight to dinner or the hotel.

Dinner

La Fontaine de Mars

15 min walk from Eiffel Tower • classic dinner nearby

If you make it to the Eiffel Tower area, stay nearby for dinner instead of crossing Paris again hungry.

Why Here
A classic dinner option that keeps the evening in the Eiffel Tower neighborhood.
Flex
If the Eiffel Tower is skipped, choose dinner near the hotel instead.

Backup

Café Constant for another nearby option in the same general area.

Transportation

Primary: Walking, with Metro as needed

This can become a long day. Use Metro or skip optional stops before anyone gets worn down.

Optional Transit
1–2 Metro rides to shorten the afternoon walk or the return.
Primary Mode
Walking

Notes

The Orsay ticket time is still listed as TBD — confirm the museum entry time so the morning coffee stop lines up with it. From Hôtel Rochechouart, Line 12 from Pigalle is the direct approach to both Coutume and the museum.
